New England IPA — Hazy, Juicy, Hoppy
If West Coast IPA is bitterness and clarity, New England IPA is juiciness and softness. This style was born in small breweries in Vermont and Massachusetts in the mid-2010s, overturning ideas of what an IPA could look and taste like — hazy, with a nectar-like texture, an explosive tropical aroma, and almost no bitterness sensation. For some — a revolution. For others — a fad. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle, but one thing is certain: NEIPA changed craft beer and shows no signs of backing down for now.
What makes NEIPA different?
It's all in the approach. While West Coast IPA relies on dry hopping and bitterness, NEIPA uses massive amounts of hops added late in the boil and during fermentation — a technique that extracts maximum aroma with minimum bitterness. Oat malt and wheat impart softness and that characteristic creamy texture, while specific yeast strains emphasize fruity esters. The result is a beer that smells of mango, peach, and passion fruit, is dangerously easy to drink, and unlike anything else.
From session to triple
NEIPA is not a single style — it's a spectrum. Session NEIPA keeps the alcohol below 5% for everyday drinkability. Classic NEIPA hovers around 6-7% — juicy and balanced. Double NEIPA cranks things up to 8-9% with even more hops and malt body. And Triple NEIPA is for the bold — over 10%, thick, intense, and with a flavor density that borders on a hop dessert.
Freshness is everything
NEIPA is a style that doesn't like to wait. Unlike barley wine or imperial stout, which improve with age, hazy IPA is best fresh — when hop aromas are at their peak. That's why at 100 Beers, we pay special attention to freshness — storage in a cold room and constant new deliveries.
Why NEIPA from 100 Beers?
NEIPA is one of the styles we refresh most often — with new beers from Bulgarian, Polish, Estonian, Finnish, Romanian, and other European breweries. Each delivery brings different hop combinations and new interpretations of the style. If you love juicy, aromatic, and soft hop beers — this collection is for you.
